The press is facing headwinds these days. Large news conglomerates are laying off journalists by the hundreds. World leaders are restricting access and limiting the public’s ability to hold them accountable. AI-generated slop threatens to spread misinformation and create less-informed societies.
At a time when most news organizations are forced to cut back on on-the-ground reporting, Religion Unplugged is doubling down on its investment in journalism. Our journalists and columnists around the world adhere to our publication’s anti-AI policy. Every word you read on our website is written by a human and edited by humans.
It’s expensive work. Our small staff oversees operations and training, but we believe it is worth every penny because it means you, our readers, have access to high-quality journalism that takes the role of religion in public and life and in people’s lives seriously.
Some articles we publish can inspire. Others challenge the way you think. All are written and produced by our outstanding team of freelance writers and experts.
This giving season, we invite you to join our mission. Any tax-deductible donation made now through Dec. 31 will be matched (up to $15,000) thanks to the generous support from the Institute for Nonprofit News and The Media Project’s board.
If you wish to send us a check, you can make it out to The Media Project and mail it to P.O. Box 15301, Irvine, CA 92623.
This end-of-year fundraiser is the primary way we fund payments to our freelancers throughout the year.
If you care about quality journalism and creating a world in which we understand ourselves and others more deeply, please consider making a tax-deductible donation today.
