Write For Us!

We accept submissions from freelancers. We are currently taking pitches for news feature stories, opinion pieces as well as movie and book reviews. We also limit pitches to just four each month in order to showcase a larger number of writers and voices over the course of the year.

Due to the large amount of pitches we receive each week, we can’t reply to all of them (but we will try our best!). Below are our freelance rates:

News Features:

A news feature is a piece of non-fiction writing covering a single topic in detail. It features multiple interviews and can be on a variety of topics relating to religion or faith. A feature story can also be a profile of a person, place or organization.

801 words and up — $300

600 to 800 words — $200

Opinion Columns/Essays/Analysis:

A piece of commentary represents the strong, informed and focused opinion of a writer on a particular issue. It is a written piece which expresses the opinion of an author or entity with no affiliation with the publication. Essays and analysis pieces are similar in scope in that they have a thesis, but can also include interviews and observations to help support an argument.

800 to 1,000 words — $200

Film & TV Reviews:

A movie review is an article that describes and evaluates a movie. Reviews are typically written by journalists giving their opinion of the movie. We only accept reviews of movies or TV programs that are new.

800 words and up — $200

Art Reviews:

An art review is an evaluation of paintings, sculpture or photography that evaluates the work’s relative merit. Works of art are generally exhibited for public viewing at museums, galleries and exhibitions. We accept pitches regarding current exhibits. We also accept submissions regarding the artwork and history inside houses of worship most often in the form of a travel piece.

800 words and up — $200

Book Reviews:

Book reviews typically evaluate recently-written works. They offer a brief description of the text’s key points and provide a short appraisal of the strengths and weaknesses of the book. We only accept reviews of books released in the current calendar year.

800 words and up — $200

Photos/Video/Audio:

Price for photography, video or audio journalism depends on the duration, quality and topic.
